Huge congratulations to Shona Mulholland who scooped the prize for "Next Generation Family Business Leader" at the inaugural NIE Business Eye Family Business Awards.
John Mulholland Motors was also nominated for the CSR Award for our work supporting local families in Cancer Care with Friends of the Cancer Centre
On winning the award, Shona said, "family businesses are so important. I know myself, I always try to support a local family business before a big PLC. We genuinely strive to treat everyone that gives us the opportunity to do business with us like a member of our own family and I think that's the secret to our success. The brands we represent, Skoda and Hyundai are family-centric, value for money brands which align perfectly with our core values.
Although leading John Mulholland Motors came prematurely for me, through tragic circumstances losing my Dad to Cancer, I regard it as a total privilege. Thankfully growing up I was stuck to my Dad like glue so I had plentiful experience watching the master at work and that has taught and guided me a lot albeit he never had a global pandemic and what that brings with it to contend with!
Although we missed out on the CSR Award for our work with Friends of the Cancer Centre I commit to living by my Dad's mantra of "support those who support you" and will continue to raise vital funds for local families going through a cancer journey. We have raised over £100,000 to fund nursing hours since 2019.
I am honoured and humbled not only to pick up the "Next Generation Family Business Leader Award" but to lead John Mulholland Motors, the business that I have so much love for. I must also thank our wonderful team for their faith in me to pick up the mantle and for all they do to treat our customers like a member of their family."
Congratulations to all the nominees!
